Hey y'all, can you believe this? Hear what I'm saying, it's officially two years old. I just need a second to let that sink in because whoo! Two years ago, I hit record with nothing but a mic, a vision, and a whole lot of nerves. And today, we're sitting pretty in the top 5% of podcasts on listen notes. We've gone international. And your girl even brought home the Women Who Podcast Award for Reppin the Southwest Region. So somebody cue the confetti. Yay! But listen, this isn't just my win. This is our win. The community, these conversations, the laughs, the growths. Y'all made this possible. So today's episode, we're celebrating how it started, how it's going, and where we're headed next. Let's get into it. When I started this podcast, I wanted a safe space, not just for me, but for us. A space where we could talk about hair, yes, but also about life, identity, growth, and everything that shapes who we are. I'll be honest, my first episode and a few more I can name, it was rough. I was overthinking everything, my voice, the sound quality, wondering if anybody would even care about what I had to say. But I kept reminding myself, start scared, start messy, just start. And I did. I would also like to thank Bryce and Record ATX for making the process less stressful and more smoother. Looking back, I'm so glad I took the leap because that little mic turned into a platform that's now reaching people around the world. Like y'all are literally listening in different countries. That's wild. So here we are, two years later, sitting at the grown folks' table, international audience, top 5% on listen notes, and award winning. That's not small, that's not light. That's proof that when you stay consistent, when you stay true to your voice, people really feel that. This podcast has taught me so much, not just about the industry, but about myself. I've learned how to show up even on the days I didn't feel like it, or even on the days that were completely unorthodox, okay? I've learned that my voice matters, and I've learned that the conversations we have here are sparking change out there. One of my favorite moments over the past two years, getting that message from a listener who said one of my episodes helped her see her curls differently. Like she stopped hiding them and actually wore her natural hair to work for the first time. Y'all, that's why I do this. That's why I show up on this podcast, on this platform, every chance and opportunity I can. Now I can't talk about this journey without talking about you. The DMs, the reviews, the shares. Every time y'all repost a podcast, every time you send me a message saying an episode spoke to you. It reminds me why I keep showing up. This community is full of thinkers, doers, and change makers, and I'm honored that you chose to spend your time here with me. So what's next for Hair What I'm Saying? Oh baby, we are just getting started. We've got more deep dive conversations coming and more motivational real talk. Who knows? I might host a Hair What I'm Saying first annual event. If you have topics you want me to cover or guests you love to hear from, slide into my DMs or send me an email. This podcast is a safe space for all of us, and I want to keep making it better. All right, y'all. I just want to say thank you again for rocking with me these past two years. Every download, every share, every listen, it all matters. And it all means the world to me. If you love this show and want to celebrate our two-year anniversary with me, do me a favor, share this episode with a friend, leave a review, or tag me on social media and tell me what your favorite episode has been so far. That's the best birthday gift you could give, Hair What I'm Saying. Cheers to two years to being in the top 5% and to many more conversations that make us think, laugh, and grow. Until next time, keep showing up for yourself, keep loving your crown, and keep listening to Hair What I'm Saying.
