Lori L. Tharps is an award-winning journalist, author, educator, and co-author of Hair Story: Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America. Her groundbreaking work explores the history, culture, and politics of Black hair, helping readers understand how hair has shaped identity, community, and beauty standards across generations. A former journalism professor at Temple University, Lori has spent decades researching and documenting the stories often left out of mainstream conversations. Now based in Spain, she continues to write, speak, and educate audiences worldwide about Black hair history, cultural identity, and the power of reclaiming our stories.
